Holy Saturday. A van transporting the fireworks of a group of Athenians breaks down in a mountain settlement. In his attempt to buy a firework rocket for his seven-year-old son, Luan, an Albanian who works as a shepherd in the region, comes into contact with the local inhabitants, rekindling an old hostility. Local rancher Thymios can’t stand to see someone with a different religion praying in the pastures where he was raised. He offends Luan, humiliates him in front of his son and the pyrotechnicians and sends him away from the settlement. Luan leaves. But, deep inside, he is seething with rage. He returns and asks if he can buy all the fireworks. Thymios disagrees. He can’t bear the thought of a Muslim setting off fireworks at the Resurrection service together with the Christians. The night takes a dramatic turn and Easter Sunday ends in tragedy.
