Exhibition Rania Rangou: Noble lies - Tracey Snelling: Nothing
3/11/2012-1/12/2012

Exhibition of arts, collages, processed photography and video

With the support of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival

Rania Rangou, in her new solo exhibition, initiates a dialogue with the past, present and future, defining their common place. Creating “a room for the co-existence of the unconscious and the conscious,” she brings to the surface data, inconsistencies, scenarios, fears and battles that deal with violent change, repetition of things and inevitable stagnation. Noble or brave lies about the way in which history is written, about the flow and succession of events, about what occurs every other second, modifying the common perception of reality. Tracey Snelling’s video, Nothing, narrates the story of a young woman named Jane, stuck with a man she doesn’t want and with a dead-end job as a maid in a small second-class motel. In Twentynine Palms, the desert landscape becomes itself a character. The video was presented at various film festivals and art spaces around the world (San Francisco IFF – April 2012, Samek Gallery, Bucknell University – June-August 2012, Naperville Independent Film Festival – September 2012, Oakland Underground Film Festival – September 2012).
