He works as an actor, director, writer and producer across theater, film and television. He regularly directs for Australia’s flagship theater producer – The Sydney Theatre Company – and has played on Broadway and the West End. His first feature film, Last Train to Freo, received three Australian Film Institute Award nominations and five Film Critics Circle Award nominations in 2006. Last Cab to Darwin, which he directed and co-wrote with playwright and screenwriter Reg Cribb, is his third feature, and is based on their award-winning play of the same title.
Last Cab to Darwin / Jeremy Sims
Rex is a cab driver who has never left Broken Hill in his life. When he discovers he doesn’t have long to live, he decides to drive through the heart of the country to Darwin, where he’s heard he will be able to die on his own terms. But along the way he discovers that before you can end your life you’ve got to live it; and to live it you’ve got to learn to share it.
