The Last Temptation of Christ / Martin Scorsese

Probably one of the more controversial films of our time (having been condemned by religious groups everywhere), The Last Temptation of Christ attempts to paint a picture of a man given a supremely hard mission in life by his God and father; a sometimes reluctant, self-doubting Jesus, gradually coming to accept his divinity and the inexorability of his ultimate fate.As a carpenter, he indifferently shaped the crucifixes for other condemned prisoners long before his own fate was sealed, and Judas was literally manipulated into betrayal by a Christ whose preoccuption with his own destiny compelled him to “use” others. But as his mission nears fulfillment, he must face the greatest temptation: the normal life of a good man.
