Biography
He was born in San Sebastian in 1977 and graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid with an Art degree. He worked as a storyboard artist for advertising agencies, while he began his career in cinema as assistant director in Spain. He studied Documentary Filmmaking and Screenwriting at the San Antonio de los Baños School in Cuba. He has written, produced and directed several short films. He worked in Mexico as assistant director for Carlos Reygadas on the film Battle in Heaven and on Amat Escalante’s Sangre. The Influence is his first feature film. The film was screened at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes IFF 2007.

The Influence / Pedro Aguilera |  Life goes on and things evolve. Sometimes the changes are slow, imperceptible, sometimes abrupt and visible. But everything is transformed, inexorably. A fragile, lost woman is crushed by the problems of her daily existence. Her belongings being confiscated, and her boutique shut down, the future of her two children becomes uncertain.Their vitality contrasts sharply with their mother’s apathy.Gradually, she sinks into deep depression. The children realize their mother lacks the necessary maturity and strength to face all these problems.They will have to act.
