4th Crossroads Co-Production Forum November 17-19 2008

Crossroads is a Co-Production Forum, launched in 2005 by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The goal of Crossroads is to support the producers of fiction films that contain a link to the Mediterranean and Balkan regions by introducing them to a network of financiers, co-producers and leading industry specialists from all over the world. The program is varied and provides the opportunity tomeet, formally and informally, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents and consultants who can offer confidential advice on everything – from legal matters to strategies for raising money.

Additionally, this year Crossroads will have a special focus on Greece: Generation Next. In collaboration with the Greek Films Program, Crossroads will introduce seven Greek filmmakers, who are now making their first feature film, to the network of industry professionals invited by the Forum. An open discussion will follow the presentation.

15 projects have been selected this year for participation to Crossroads, based on the quality of the script, the creative team and the likelihood of being produced. All selected projects are either produced or co-produced by a country in the Balkan or Mediterranean area or are projects that contain story elements linked to these regions. The selected projects come from the following countries: Albania, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Palestine, Romania, Turkey and Serbia. The Crossroads Nokia N Series Award of €10,000 will be given to one of the selected projects.

In 2006 the Crossroads Nokia N Series award went to Yesim Ustaoglu’s project Pandora’s Box which won the Golden and Silver Shell for Best Film and Best Actress respectively at the San Sebastián International Film Festival 2008. In 2007 Nadav Lapid’s winning project Le Policier was later on presented at L’Atelier du Cinéma - Cannes 2008, and at the New Cinema Network of the Rome International Film Festival 2008.
