Biography
He was born in Shanghai. He moved at the age of five to Hong Kong with his parents. He was recognized as one of the most promising filmmakers, in 1988,with his first feature film "As Tears Go By". His film "Days of Being Wild" won five top prizes at the Hong Kong Film Awards. "Chungking Express" was the first of his films to break through into wide international distribution. "Fallen Angels" consolidated his position as one of the most innovative storytellers of our times. "Happy Together" earned the Best Director Award at the Cannes IFF 1997. His latest, "My Blueberry Nights", was nominated for the Golden Palm at the 60th Cannes IFF.

Ashes of Time - Redux / Wong Kar Wai |  The film is set in five parts, five seasons that are part of the Chinese almanac. The story takes place in the jianghu, the world of the martial arts. Ouyang Fen has lived in the western desert for some years. He left his home in White Camel Mountain when the woman he loved chose to marry his elder brother rather than him. Instead of seeking glory, he ends up as an agent. When people come to him with a wish to eliminate someone who has wronged them, he puts them in touch with a swordsman who can do the job.
