Biography
He was born in 1978, in Makati City, Philippines and studied Mass Communications at the University of the City of Manila. He started as a scriptwriter for feature films and TV. His first film, Donsol, won Best Actress and Best Cinematography at the 2006 Cinemalaya Independent FF. The film was screened at several film festivals around the world and garnered Special Jury Prizes at the Asian Marine FF in Japan and the Fort Lauderdale IFF in the United States. It was also the Philippines’ official submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards. He is currently working on his new film Freedomland, which received a script development grant from the Hubert Bals Fund of the Rotterdam IFF.

Adela / Adolfo Alix Jr. |  Adela, a former radio star back in the 50s, is celebrating her eightieth birthday. She tries to treat it like a normal day – doing her daily chores and duties in the dumpsite where she lives, but she can’t hide her loneliness and how she ultimately longs for her family.
