He was born in Paris in 1952. He is the son of screenwriter and director Michel Audiard. He studied philosophy and literature at the Sorbonne and subsequently worked in theater before he began writing his own screenplays in the mid-80s (occasionally in collaboration with his father). He made his first feature film in 1994. His second film, Un Héros très discret was nominated for a César Award. Sur mes lèvres was shown in the Panorama Section of the Berlinale in 2002 and won many awards in festivals around the world.

The Beat that My Heart Skipped / Jacques Audiard

Tom is 28 and destined to follow in his father’s footsteps in the sleazy and sometimes brutal world of the real estate business. But a chance encounter leads him to believe that he can become, like his mother, a concert pianist. In earnest, he starts preparing for the audition with a virtuoso Chinese pianist. She doesn’t speak a word of French, music is their only exchange. But pressures from the ugly world of his day job soon become more than he can handle...
