Biography
Born in 1942, Erden Kıral studied Ceramics at the Istanbul Academy of Arts. He published the film periodicals Gerçek Sinema and Çağdaş Sinema, was editor of Güney magazine, and has written about film for the Vatan newspaper and 7 Sanatmagazine. During his career, as well as five short films, he has made eleven features and three television series. He has been a member of Berlin’s Akademie der Künste since 1984.

Erden Kiral Tribute
The Blue Exile / Erden Kiral |  The Blue Exile is a fictionalized account of a period in the life of a Turkish journalist who was condemned to exile for an article he wrote about WWI deserters. He turned his punishment into a reward by creating a little paradise in what is today the holiday resort of Bodrum. Kiral uses the epic journey to Bodrum as a poetic meditation on the journalist’s life, and also as a search for the meaning of life.
