Electra / Michael Cacoyannis

The protagonist and tragic character is Electra, who, married to a villager, is waiting for the opportunity to avenge the death of her father Agamemnon, King of Mycenae, who was murdered by his wife Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus. The opportunity presents itself when she meets her brother Orestes at their father’s grave. The two siblings will plot to kill their mother and her lover.
